EXTRAORDINARY ESCAPES CLIENTS SAY

We’re back!

Had to email to say - firstly. THANK YOU so much for
organising our trip for us, we had a wonderful time and secondly, the staff at
Baros were just fantastic. We met such nice people - both staff and guests.  I
love to go away and talk to people about their lives/parts of their world, and
we did that and met some great people with interesting stories.

The resort was great. I have a stiff neck from snorkelling!
We made the most of it - boat trips, night snorkelling- you name it, we did it.

Dying to go back.

Thanks again.

Kimberly and Claudia

Good morning,

Baros is an amazing destination and we had a great time for the 8 days. As a resort/island the food, accommodation, beverage, facilities are all exceptional. Cannot fault them in any way.

The Staff are fantastic and Shuan and his team do a great job in giving you a memorable holiday. I fully recommend Baros as it is a destination that provided everlasting memories.

To you and Jodie, thank you for organizing it and we definitely intend to go back to Baros in the future. When we decide to go back I will contact you to organize our stay.

Thank you again

Theo, Alexandria, Australia

Baros was just amazing! We have both travelled a lot but have never seen anything quite as perfect. We loved the island, the staff, the fantastic snorkelling and the great food.

Our stay was real 'luxury' and we have some fantastic memories! It was a real pleasure to book through you. Thank you for ensuring we were picked up and well looked after. You and Jodie have been so professional and helpful and if we go again I know who we'll be speaking to.

Best Regards and a big thank you! It was everything Jodie described it to be and more.

Guil and Divya Gomes, Australia

Hi Angela,

It was absolutely amazing and we loved every minute of it. The actual resort was first class and the staff were exceptional. We can’t speak highly enough of the whole experience. It was so relaxing we felt as if we had been away for a month! Thanks again for recommending this and arranging our booking. If we can ever afford it again we would definitely go back!!!
Kind regards,
Cynthia.

Cynthia, Brisbane

Dear Angela and Jodie,

Just a short message to let you know that we are having an amazing time at Baros!
The resort is absolutely perfect and exactly the kind of escape we were looking for on the way back from cold grey London. The weather is amazing which makes all the difference when we are only here for such a short time.
The villas are simply spectacular and the snorkelling is the best I've ever seen. We've had awesome meals at the restaurants and seen some amazing sights from our own balcony. Many thanks for all your guidance on choosing a resort. The speedboat transfer tip was the best advice by far.
Anyway, I can't say enough about the place but will stop there. Thanks again!
Cheers, Craig & Tanja

Baros is a small, perfectly round island, located an easy 30 minute speedboat transfer from Male. It has the benefit of the speedboat transfer, but it is located in a very remote area of this Atoll, with a perfect view from every location on the island. Being a small island, it is designed for couples and romance, with children under 8 years prohibited.

Baros is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World ('SLH') and their level of service and attention to detail is outstanding. The staff to guest ratio is four staff members to every guest, which is unparalleled anywhere else in the Maldives. All villas are allocated a butler and guests' every need is taken care of with a warm Maldivian smile.

The Villas at Baros are elegant and designed to embrace the natural beauty of the Maldives. The island is covered with beautiful, brightly coloured flowers such as frangipanis, hibiscus and bougainvillea, that fit perfectly with the Maldivian island feel. They are not overly manicured, simply lining the walk-ways of the island and the beach.

Baros has an amazing house reef that circles the island and is only metres from the beach. The reef is rich in marine life including technicolour reef fish, turtles, rays and even a sunken boat to explore. A wonderful unique feature of Baros is their Palm Garden. A beautiful oasis in the centre of the island, shaded by hundreds of palm fronds that blow gently in the Maldivian breeze. Double seater couches, hammocks and tables are dotted around the Garden. As Baros doesn't have a main pool, couples can laze the afternoon away, rocking in a hammock and sipping on their favourite drink. It truly is an oasis!

There is something very unique about Baros and after many visits, we believe it is the local island feeling that flows throughout the resort. This Maldivian influence can be seen in the design of the villas right through to the beautifully hand-painted dinner plates at the stunning Lighthouse Restaurant.

Must Do: The Pool Water Villas are outstanding and the pools are so inviting and luxurious. If you are a land lover, then the Baros Pool Villas are gorgeous villas with their own private pool and a huge bathroom, partially indoor with an outdoor garden and shower.

Baros Villas truly capture the essence of the Maldives. The Beach Villas rim the island with direct access to the beach. All of the Beach Villas have some part of the bathroom outdoors, set in a private little garden, with flowers over-hanging and lush greenery lining the stepping stones to the shower. There is nothing better than an outdoor shower in the Maldives! The Beach Villas are designed with true Maldivian colours of deep reds and dark timber offering a cool sanctuary for you to escape to.

The beds in all of the villas are located in the centre of the room so that you can lie there and look directly out to the turquoise lagoon. One feature of all villas that is worth noting, is that the huge flat screen TV is hidden away, there for you to pull out if you want, or put away if you prefer to remove yourself from modern technology.

The water villas are decorated in a Maldivian theme also with creams, browns and reds featuring throughout the villa. The stunningly inviting day bed is one of our favourite features with sheer white fabric draped over the four posts, providing you with shade to read your book as you pass the afternoon away.

The new Pool Water Villas are one of our favourite pool water villas in the Maldives, located at the end of the jetty offering the most privacy and some with standout views of the sunset, all from your private pool. The pools are very large and truly infinity style, built right on the end of the deck so that you can gaze out at the lagoon and the horizon.

Deluxe Villas: 89 sqm x 24
The popular Deluxe Villas are set in flower glades by the beach and exemplify the essence of the Maldives with their tropical grace and simplicity. These unique Maldives island resort villas provide an incredible setting for a perfect holiday for two. Every villa is elegantly furnished while service, care and attention are always discreetly on hand as required. The Deluxe Villas with their exotic open-air bathroom in a sandstone-walled tropical garden make a stay on Baros Maldives even more special.

The Room features:
  • Flatscreen TV with CD/DVD player.

Must Do: Baros is all about romance and creating that perfect romantic dining experience. There are so many options at Baros for this. Try the Baros sandbank for a private picnic by day or romantic dinner by night, served discreetly by a dedicated chef and waiter. Or try the floating pontoon which you can swim to during the day if you are a keen swimmer, or at sunset have the boat take you there for sunset drinks on your own pontoon in the Indian Ocean!

For a small island, the dining options at Baros are extensive and first class. Baros has three outstanding restaurants on the island and then a multitude of options for those wanting a private dining experience.

The Lighthouse Restaurant and Bar is an iconic feature of Baros and known throughout the Maldives. As its name suggests, the Lighthouse Restaurant is built on a jetty protruding out into the lagoon, architecturally resembling a lighthouse. It is two-storeys high and circular in shape with a white sail pinnacle roof.

The restaurant is on the lower level and has an outdoor dining edgeless deck, with lights around the deck at night, lighting up the lagoon for you to spot some sharks and fish as you dine! The cuisine is modern with a seafood focus. It is all about your dining experience here with certain menu items designed so that the chef comes to your table to prepare the meal right in front of you. It truly is a spectacular dining experience. A spiral staircase leads to the upper level Lighthouse Bar, a stunning spot to watch the sensational Maldivian sunset.

Cayenne Grill, Baros's meat lovers choice of restaurant is also a very unique interactive dining experience. Set by the water's edge, the menu has a variety of Maldivian, Indian, Thai and Japanese Style dishes. You can choose to BBQ your own meal at your table over hot stones.

The Lighthouse Restaurant (Over-water Pavilion)

The Lighthouse Restaurant is the hallmark of Baros Maldives, an overwater pavilion with a white sail pinnacle roof that serves as an iconic beacon visible long before the island comes into view. It has been acclaimed as one of the best restaurants in the whole of the Maldives. For guests it is a truly unique experience to sit on The Lighthouse Deck above the Indian Ocean while rays and fishes swim below, enjoying the sublime, classical tropical ambience while sampling some of the best dishes ever. At The Lighthouse, every meal is one to remember. Good food is complemented by fine wine selected from the sommelier's inspired choice of wines from the restaurant's glass walled, walk-in, temperature controlled wine cellar.

Activities

Must do: As Baros is all about romance, try a private sunset sail or snorkelling excursion on their traditional handcrafted Maldivian 19m-long sailing dhoni, Nooma. If motor boats are more your style, then the same can be done on their 16m-long Princess Motor Yacht, Serenity. Either way, this is a must for anyone and certainly a highlight of your stay!

Baros is an island that offers an abundance of activities for those looking for action, however if you are looking for a more relaxing break, Baros is perfect for this also. The house reef at Baros is one of the best house reefs in the Maldives. Before you are even 15 metres from the beach, you will be surrounded by technicolour fish, with stunning and curious bat fish in large schools being the most common here. It has a sunken boat to explore while in search of rays, sharks and turtles, all residents of the house reef.

Baros is very focussed on the preservation of their marine environment and has a resident marine biologist on the island. The Marine Biologist is very active and focussed on enhancing guests' experience by taking guided snorkelling excursions and dives, providing guests with an invaluable amount of information on the local marine life.

The owner of Baros Island, Dr Manaku, is very passionate about the Maldives and its history and culture, so much so that he has built a Maldivian Museum housing an incredible collection of historical artefacts and maps of the Maldives dating back hundreds of years. It is truly fascinating to look through.

Diving: Divers Baros Maldives has been operating in the Maldives since 1979 and the Dive Centre at Baros Maldives was one of the first to be opened in the archipelago. It is a PADI five-star Gold Palm Dive Centre with an experienced international team focusing on service and diving in small groups with personal attention.
Baros Maldives stands for environmental awareness and the Dive Centre in close cooperation with the Marine Centre, is dedicated to preserving reefs. Divers Baros Maldives has officially been certified as the first resort EcoDive Centre in the Maldives, offering the International Reef Check for all Baros Maldives guests. The Reef Check Project combines education with action to give volunteers a unique experience while taking an active role in conserving the world's reefs. Try the new Eco-Diver Course.

Marine Centre Workshops & Excursions: A resident Marine Biologist runs the Marine Centre as an information point where guests can learn all about the marine world as well as participate in guided snorkelling excursions on the house reef. The Marine Biologist also organises some of the best snorkelling excursions in the Maldives.
Coral transplantation workshops are held under a programme enabling guests to learn the propagation process of coral regeneration and to play a part in conserving the reefs surrounding Baros Maldives.
