Baros has the benefit of an easy speedboat transfer but is located in a very remote area of this Atoll, with a perfect view from every location on the island. Being a small island, it is designed for couples, with no dedicated children’s facilities and only children eight years or older are allowed.

VILLAS

The Villas on Baros truly capture the essence of the Maldives. The Beach Villas rim the island with direct access to the beach. All Beach Villas have part of the bathroom outdoors, set in a private little garden, with flowers over-hanging and lush greenery lining the stepping stones to the shower. The Beach Villas are designed with true Maldivian colours of deep reds and dark timber offering a cool sanctuary to escape to. The beds in all of the villas are located in the centre of the room so that you can lie there and look directly out to the turquoise lagoon. There is a huge hidden flat screen TV, there if you want, or not if you prefer to remove yourself from technology.

The Water Villas are decorated in a Maldivian theme also with creams, browns and reds featured throughout. The stunningly inviting day bed is one of our favourites with sheer white fabric draped over the four posts, providing you with shade to relax as you pass the afternoon away. The Water Pool Villas are one of our favourite water villas in the Maldives, located at the end of the jetty offering the most privacy and some with standout views of the sunset, all from your private pool. The pools are very large and truly infinity style, built right on the end of the deck so that you can gaze out at the lagoon and the horizon. There are only 15 of these so let us book early so you don’t miss out.

Dining 

For such an intimate island, the dining options at Baros are extensive and world class. Baros has three outstanding main restaurants on the island plus a multitude of private dining experiences to enjoy. The Lighthouse Restaurant and Bar is an iconic feature of Baros and famous throughout the Maldives. As its name suggests, it’s built on a jetty protruding out into the lagoon, architecturally resembling a lighthouse. It’s two-storeys high and circular in shape with a white sail pinnacle roof. The restaurant is on the lower level and has an outdoor dining edgeless deck, with lights around the deck at night, lighting up the lagoon for you to spot some sharks and fish as you dine.

Cayenne Grill, is those for who enjoy the highest quality meats. Set by the water's edge under the stars, the menu has a variety of Maldivian, Indian, Thai and Japanese Style dishes. This intimate setting is very romantic and we recommend sharing one of the platters for two, our favourite is the Maldivian Seafood Platter.

Lime Restaurant is the all-day dining offering, so start your day with a delicious breakfast by the pool. Lunch offers an extensive menu covering more substantial meals or something lighter and then in the evenings this is a perfect spot to enjoy a gorgeous sunset over International and Maldivian cuisine. Sails Bar can be found hidden beneath the cooling palm tree canopy of Baros. Just follow the sandy path and enjoy a drink or snack relaxing in a hammock or lounger.

ACTIVITIES

Baros offers an abundance of activities for those looking for action, however if you are looking for a more relaxing break, Baros is also perfect. The house reef at Baros is one of the best house reefs in the Maldives. Before you are even 15 metres from the beach, you will be surrounded by technicolour fish, with stunning and curious bat fish in large schools common here. It has a sunken boat to explore while in search of rays, sharks and turtles, all residents of the house reef. Baros is very focussed on the preservation of their marine environment and has a resident marine biologist on the island. The Marine Biologist is very active and focussed on enhancing guests' experience by taking guided snorkelling excursions and dives, providing guests with an invaluable amount of information on the local marine life. The Maldivian owner of Baros Island, Dr Manaku, is very passionate about the Maldives, so much so that he has built a Maldivian Museum housing an incredible collection of historical artefacts and maps.

A wonderful unique feature of Baros is their Palm Garden, a beautiful oasis in the centre of the island, shaded by hundreds of palm fronds that blow gently in the Maldivian breeze. Double seater couches, hammocks and tables are dotted around the Garden. Or relax by the huge main pool located at the Lime Restaurant, it’s the Maldives’ largest over-water pool with a pool bar serving drinks and snacks. It truly is an oasis!
